Connecting to the World in Images

Image
Connecting to the World in Images March 11th 2024 - Luke Bettano (PS HW 2)         The image above Is from a collection of images called the people's portfolio, which  portrays social issues using photography. This image is in the collection related to Sexual Violence in Congo. As can be seen, the image shows 2 African children behind bars. I am not sure the exact location that the image was taken, but it certainly exposes some of the horror that exists in the world. The children are trapped, and appear to be suffering. These image shows how some people are trapped by the world they were born into. The children are likely victims of sexual violence, which is truly devastating. This is an issue that more attention needs to be brought to as it harms so many lives, as depicted in the image.     The image connected to me because it depicts hardship and struggle, but primarily the feeling of entrapment. I can not imagine what these children or going t...

Tag Brush Logo

Tag Brush Logo February 28th 24 - Luke Bettano     The image above shows a tag brush I made using my personal logo, which is attached below. The tag brush is representative of graffiti art. The image has a grungy and unpolished style that, makes it a great take on the logo, and I really how it looks with different colors together. As described in a previous blog post, my logo is representative of my mind and how my head is in the clouds sometimes, and that idea works well with graffiti. I produces the logo in adobe illustrator, but the tag brush in photo shop, this was my first time using photoshop in a several years, and my most complex creation on it, considering I used many new and different tools. I used images of graffiti spray, patterns, and my logo as layers in order to create the image above. I used pen tool to create the area between the spray and altered logo. I used a scratch pattern and negative pattern image to add the textures to the layers. The creation taught m...

Photo Shop Tutorials Feb 27 2024 - Luke Bettano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1mwj8AH98Y&pp=ygUmc2hvcnQgcGhvdG9zaG9wIHR1dG9yaWFsIGZvciBiZWdpbm5lcnM%3D     The tutorial above outlines the basics of photoshop, and the tools that come with it. It starts by showing the menu and file information, which work similar to illustrator. After explaining the basics that mostly overlapped with illustrator, he introduced a couple of the important tools. The tools he introduced were the move, selection, lasso, quick selection, crop, frame, eyedropper, spot healing, paintbrush, clone stamp, gradient, dodge, pen, text, path selection, hand, and zoom tool, as well as other tools. These tools were all useful in different ways, it so interesting how many tools photoshop has, and how a lot of them are easy to understand, and useful. These tools give you a lot of control over your images. The tools I expect to use are the basic ones, like pen, crop, eyedropper, and more, however some other t...

Propaganda Poster

Image
Propaganda Poster Luke Bettano - Feb 26      I created the Propaganda Poster above using adobe  illustrator. The figure in the image is me, and I am promoting hydration. I chose to make a poster promoting hydration because 47% of Americans don't consume enough water, and staying hydrated is an important for health, and it is something a lot of people forget. I used the pen and pencil tool to create all of the layers for the poster, the first thing I did was recreate an image of me, that I really like, which is attached below. After recreating the image, I used the pen and pencil tool to create a glass of water and an ice berg. I used coolants.com to get text that matched my vision. I wanted the image to have an ice like feel because that is associated with water and hydration, and cold water is refreshing, so I wanted the poster to make the viewer long for refreshment, and to hydrate themself. I kept the background white, because like the drink of water, this i...

My Very Own Logo

Image
My Very Own Logo Luke Bettano - Feb 14     I created the logos above using Adobe illustrator from the help of my professor and classmates. The basic idea behind the logo is that is meat to represent me, and what I would have on my forehead if I had to have a symbol on my forehead. The logo shows a human profile over a colored cloud. The logo represents the idea of my head often being in the clouds, this is something those who know me well we say about me, because I tend to spend a lot of time zoned out and in deep thought about almost any topic. This is something I consider one of my more interesting traits, it can be seen as a weakness in concentration, but it is also important part of how I go through life and that is why it represents me well. The reason the cloud is colored is because, this makes it the focal point of the logo, as the cloud represents my wondering thoughts, which are why I value this aspect of myself.      Before creating this logo, I ...

Calligramme For My Future Self

Image
Calligramme for My Future Self Artist Statement Luke Bettano - Jan 31 2024      I created the calligramme above using Adobe Illustrator. I made a self reflective image out of a letter, the letter was addressed to myself 20 years in the future, I will place copy of this letter on this blog post, alongside my sketch I used to prepare for the calligramme. In the letter I talked about personal issues, aspiration, along with other things. In the letter I discussed my creative side, and I how. I enjoy speaking with people, which inspired my image choice for the image I chose, which was someone speaking into a microphone. The image has an abstract style. I utilized illustrator's various tools to create the image from words. I entered lines from the letter onto illustrator using text tool, and I placed them next to shapes using the shapes tool, I made them into separate layers and merged them together using envelope distort. I used ovals for the eyes, reactange for appearanc...
