The tutorial above outlines the basics of photoshop, and the tools that come with it. It starts by showing the menu and file information, which work similar to illustrator. After explaining the basics that mostly overlapped with illustrator, he introduced a couple of the important tools. The tools he introduced were the move, selection, lasso, quick selection, crop, frame, eyedropper, spot healing, paintbrush, clone stamp, gradient, dodge, pen, text, path selection, hand, and zoom tool, as well as other tools. These tools were all useful in different ways, it so interesting how many tools photoshop has, and how a lot of them are easy to understand, and useful. These tools give you a lot of control over your images. The tools I expect to use are the basic ones, like pen, crop, eyedropper, and more, however some other tools stood out to me. I really liked the spot healing tool, because it is super effective, and not something I though would be that easy to use to clean up images. In addition, I liked the clone stamp tool for similar reasons, but it also gives you a unique ability to expand on elements of an image. I am looking forward to using these tools and working with images, in a way I have not before.
The tutorial above focuses on an effect that caught my eye, because its very saddle and unique. The video showcases and explains the distort effect, but turning a simple image of a rode in the mountains into a more complexly textured image that maintained its realism. They did this by placing an image of the waves behind the image and selecting overlay to blend the images, and make the image more interesting. The video showed how the overlay has multiple options and you can play around with the overlaying of the the images, the artist in the video uses a light overlay. This seems like a very easy tool to use, and I plan on using it. I plan on using it to make skies look abstracted, and I want to make a photo of my friends and I appear in space. This tutorial insipid me for some of my future creations, the image that the artist created was very interesting.
The tutorial above showcases how you can remove the background of images using photo shop. This is something that I expect to be very useful, and I might even use it outside of class. This can be used for logos, background altering, and many other things. The artist starts by selecting the main subject, then he redefines the hard edges, then he redefines the hair, which is done if the subject is person, next he applies white outlines, and then he lastly he used the brush tool to fix the color spills and clean it up. This appears to be more difficult as it requires using the brush tool and work with small things like the edges, however it is worth it to understand because this is a useful feature. I found it interesting because it took less steps than I expected.
Somewhere Project March 20th 2024 - Luke Bettano The image above is me photoshopped with 3 former US presidents. I was originally going to do an image from a movie, but recently I had the opportunity to take a tour of the Whitehouse, so I wanted to an use an image from that experience. The image is me in my outfit, and I knew it would work with a photo like the one chose. The image I edited into was taken at Arlington cemetery, inside of an outdoor theater. I knew it would be challenging to edit all he different aspects of my appearance, in regards to light and definition, so as expected this process took some time. I am happy with the result. I selected an masked myself from my own image and placed it in an open spot in the president's image, so it looked like I was one of them. I adjusted my location and size. In order to implement myself into it I had to apply blur to myself, change the darkness of my suit, and change the hue and saturation to appear m...
Portfolio 4/25/2024 - Luke Bettano The pages below make up my portfolio for my 10 projects that I felt best represented my experience in FMX this semester. This was my last project and will be my last blog post. My portfolio served as a way to represent my best works, and was made using Adobe InDesign. The color palettes was analogous, and made using light blue and dark blue, with white as an important color too. The pages were white because that best complimented the work, and blue is my favorite color, and matched some of my works. I used Futura for the headings, gotu for the body, and minions pro for the page numbers. I made a cover and a back page. I started with stable of contents, and about me section, where I introduced myself and my work. I had one project on each page, except the logo and tag brush were on one page. I used light blue for the headings and page numbers, and dark blue for the body text. I believe they blended together nicely. All of...
