My Very Own Logo

    I created the logos above using Adobe illustrator from the help of my professor and classmates. The basic idea behind the logo is that is meat to represent me, and what I would have on my forehead if I had to have a symbol on my forehead. The logo shows a human profile over a colored cloud. The logo represents the idea of my head often being in the clouds, this is something those who know me well we say about me, because I tend to spend a lot of time zoned out and in deep thought about almost any topic. This is something I consider one of my more interesting traits, it can be seen as a weakness in concentration, but it is also important part of how I go through life and that is why it represents me well. The reason the cloud is colored is because, this makes it the focal point of the logo, as the cloud represents my wondering thoughts, which are why I value this aspect of myself. 

    Before creating this logo, I sketched out ten different logo concepts, and decided on this one as it was my favorite in terms of the story it tells, and I believed it would work as simple and efficient logo for me. I created an initial version in illustrator which I was not happy with, but after learning about more tools I created the original black and white version seen on the top image. I was inspired by profile and cloud icons I had seen which researching. After creating this I knew I could change the clouds colors, but I always wanted to keep the profile white for the reasons above, and I also felt it would stand out less with a white cloud. I knew I wanted the logo to be blue, because that color shows the peacefulness that comes with zoning out and thinking, and It is the color of my eyes. I created a dark and light blue because both exemplify that peacefulness, on the other hand I wanted a red version because according to statistics that is the mist recognizable logo color, and because most clouds I had seen were blue. 

    When producing the logo in illustrator, I used shape combine tool and combined 3 circles that were overlapped with 2 eclipses for to give the swirling shape of a cloud. I overlapped a rectangle with a sphere and placed a face shaped oval above to create the profile icon, I used shape combine to connect them, and I placed the profile icon on the cloud, and positioned it how I felt best. These 2 elements were all I needed to capture a head in the a clouds. Below I attached a profile icon and cloud icon that I used for reference, in addition I am attached the sketches used to create the logo. I am very happy with both the appearance and meaning of the logo, I personally prefer simpler logos. Logos are all over the place and interesting and important to understand. This was an enjoyable project, which taught me about what makes a good logo, and how I can represent myself.
