Animation Tutorials

Image
Animation Tutorials March 25th 2024 - Luke Bettano Click Here      The video above outlines the basics of using photoshop to animate. It introduces the idea of creating symmetrical frames using duplication, so you can have the exact same thing as your previous frame, in order to make it cohesive. Photoshops tools, can be used to alter an image in any way imaginable allowing for a lot of possibility. I have experience with editing photos and illustrating, not animation, but I can use my knowledge of the tools for animation. That being said I anticipate difficulty with the tediousity of the process, and there some limitations described In the video. If you want to add something to an animation you have to add it to every layer. The software does have a video editing tool to solve this, but it appears to be harder to use than most animations softwares. Photoshop appears to be great for more casual short and simple animations. Click Here      The video ab...

Somewhere

Image
Somewhere Project  March 20th 2024 - Luke Bettano      The image above is me photoshopped with 3 former US presidents. I was originally going to do an image from a movie, but recently I had the opportunity to take a tour of the Whitehouse, so I wanted to an use an image from that experience. The image is me in my outfit, and I knew it would work with a photo like the one chose. The image I edited into was taken at Arlington cemetery, inside of an outdoor theater. I knew it would be challenging to edit all he different aspects of my appearance, in regards to light and definition, so as expected this process took some time. I am happy with the result. I selected an masked myself from my own image and placed it in an open spot in the president's image, so it looked like I was one of them. I adjusted my location and size. In order to implement myself into it I had to apply blur to myself, change the darkness of my suit, and change the hue and saturation to appear m...

Pre-Somewhere

Image
Pre-Somewhere Project March 18 2024 - Luke Bettano     For an upcoming project, I must edit myself into a shot from a movie. The images below, will you be used as inspiration for this project. They were found from social media and different websites.                                                                    The image above would be difficult to photoshop myself into because, there is little space, I would need to match the comedic energy, and I would need to make a shadow for myself. I should not use a photo like this for my project.  The image above inspires me because it is outdoors and has a lighthearted tone, so it would be enjoyable to capture. I want to do an outdoor shot from a comedic film. I also want to capture relatable people I would  realisti...

Black and White to Color

Image
Black and White to Color March 15th - Luke Bettano      The images above were created from the image I explained in my previous blog post, which is attached below. I changed the coloring of the images using photoshop. To start I removed all color from the images, and made them in black and white. I had a pallet of 5 colors for each image, and each image had a different format for the combination of colors. The first image was monochromatic (5 variations of one color), the second was complementary (2 similar, 2 opposite, and 1 in between), the third image was triad (5 different and unique colors). I wanted each image to be different, but I tried to keep some consistencies. As seen, the image has a hazy apocalyptic sky, which is something I enjoy. The first image, was meant to have an autumnal looks so I was all brown. The second image was inspired by blossom trees, which contrast wit green, which fits in with nature. The third image mostly inverted the colors of the...

Connecting to the World in Images

Image
Connecting to the World in Images March 11th 2024 - Luke Bettano (PS HW 2)         The image above Is from a collection of images called the people's portfolio, which  portrays social issues using photography. This image is in the collection related to Sexual Violence in Congo. As can be seen, the image shows 2 African children behind bars. I am not sure the exact location that the image was taken, but it certainly exposes some of the horror that exists in the world. The children are trapped, and appear to be suffering. These image shows how some people are trapped by the world they were born into. The children are likely victims of sexual violence, which is truly devastating. This is an issue that more attention needs to be brought to as it harms so many lives, as depicted in the image.     The image connected to me because it depicts hardship and struggle, but primarily the feeling of entrapment. I can not imagine what these children or going t...

Tag Brush Logo

Image
Tag Brush Logo February 28th 24 - Luke Bettano     The image above shows a tag brush I made using my personal logo, which is attached below. The tag brush is representative of graffiti art. The image has a grungy and unpolished style that, makes it a great take on the logo, and I really how it looks with different colors together. As described in a previous blog post, my logo is representative of my mind and how my head is in the clouds sometimes, and that idea works well with graffiti. I produces the logo in adobe illustrator, but the tag brush in photo shop, this was my first time using photoshop in a several years, and my most complex creation on it, considering I used many new and different tools. I used images of graffiti spray, patterns, and my logo as layers in order to create the image above. I used pen tool to create the area between the spray and altered logo. I used a scratch pattern and negative pattern image to add the textures to the layers. The creation taught m...

Photo Shop Tutorials Feb 27 2024 - Luke Bettano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1mwj8AH98Y&pp=ygUmc2hvcnQgcGhvdG9zaG9wIHR1dG9yaWFsIGZvciBiZWdpbm5lcnM%3D     The tutorial above outlines the basics of photoshop, and the tools that come with it. It starts by showing the menu and file information, which work similar to illustrator. After explaining the basics that mostly overlapped with illustrator, he introduced a couple of the important tools. The tools he introduced were the move, selection, lasso, quick selection, crop, frame, eyedropper, spot healing, paintbrush, clone stamp, gradient, dodge, pen, text, path selection, hand, and zoom tool, as well as other tools. These tools were all useful in different ways, it so interesting how many tools photoshop has, and how a lot of them are easy to understand, and useful. These tools give you a lot of control over your images. The tools I expect to use are the basic ones, like pen, crop, eyedropper, and more, however some other t...
